The short answer is yes! WordPress makes it as easy as it can be to make simple edits and changes to your own website content. However, please note that WordPress is usually the framework running the management of your content (hence its title as a CMS content management system) So the indie of your WordPress can vary slightly form build to build depending on the page builder your designer choses to use.
No, I do not personally host your website. I do however help and assist you in setting up your own as well as your domain name.
Why don’t I offer this?! Because it is your property. It is registered to you and you own it. For example, should I take ill or worse, leave this mortal world, you would lose your site and all the details. By hosting your website with a major service provider you get the best possible price, the latest server technology, AND 24hr support access to your website.
You can also move your hosting periodically with relative ease to gain performance enhancements AND SAVE $$$.
At present, I am using and recommend Bluehost. If you click the link below to make your purchase they offer me a tiny kickback, but this is not why I endorse them. They simply provide the very best service and value for money I can find on the market at present and believe me, I have worked with many hosting companies that are not a pleasure to be using.
Q: My website is showing as not secure, but I have my SSL certificate installed… what could the problem be?Â
A: Usually the HTTPS protocol won’t be accepted if the page has mixed content. for example, you may be requested a secure connection BUT still have insecure links coded on your page (HTTP)
you can get the plugin to fix this etc but I don’t recommend it, the cleanest solution is to change all your on-page inks to simply be //yourlink.com/…..Â
this way you are not actually stating in hard code whether the link is HTTP or HTTPS and instead WordPress will use the global property according to the page load.Â
How long is a piece of string? I’m really sorry but I can’t give you a straight answer to this one.Â
Typically it’s unoptimized content such are large images or videos or scripts or a ridiculous number or combination of plugins installed.
I won’t suggest a fix that could risk breaking your site, instead, I’d suggest reaching out to me for a website review and tune-up. It doesn’t cost the world and the performance enhancement will be an absolute treat to your users.
Q: My website auto-updated and now shows a white screen with a strange code… can you help?
A: First of all, don’t panic. WordPress and all modern CMS websites use plugins to enhance functionality. From time to time you may be an update that breaks the current setup. the long-term solution is more complicated but here’s a top tip to get back into your broken website.
Login to your hosting cpanel – file manager or FTP connection ( not WordPress)
navigate to the folder of your website ( usually html_public / Your website or maybe just there if it’s the only site n the server)Â
Find the WordPress folder wp-content then inside that find plugins. right click and rename the Plugins folder (Plugins-stop)
Renaming the folder deactivates all the plugins on the site and this usually at least brings the site back so you can sign in.
Once done so you can sign in and switch the plugins back on, one by one refreshing the site each time until you find the offending plugin.
Alternatively, contact me and ask about website recovery and tune-up. I’ll fix it and also try to put in place a fail-safe to avoid this occurring in the future.
